On 11 August, the Lord willing, the Ballifeary Care Home will have been functioning for 50 years, during which it has given comfort and respite in a suitable Christian environment for many people in their old age. An event is planned at the Home on 12 August 2014 to acknowledge the Lord’s kindness.
Ballifeary House was purchased on 15 August 1963. After suitable alterations were completed the Home was ready to accommodate residents on 1 July 1964, and after a few weeks there were 10 residents, two males and eight females. The official opening took place on 11 August 1964 when worship was conducted by members of the “Home of Rest Committee” as it was then titled.
Over the following years various alterations and additions were made to the Home to accommodate 24 residents, with all rooms having private facilities, and there are now 6 rooms which are fully en-suite.
The Ballifeary Care Home Committee agreed to acknowledge the Lord’s goodness in providing for the Home over the last 50 years and appointed Tuesday 12 August 2014 as a suitable date for this purpose, when Rev Dr J R Tallach (Convener) will conduct family worship in a marquee on the lawn at Ballifeary Home, which can accommodate up to 100 guests. Afterwards speeches will be made by various representatives and then a light lunch will be provided. The proceedings will be relayed to the residents and staff in the Home.
Please note that attendance is by invitation only, as was the case at the official opening in 1964.
