SUMMARY:Day of Humiliation and Prayer
DESCRIPTION:The Synod appoints a Day of Humiliation and Prayer to be observed throughout the Church on Wednesday\, 3rd December 2025. Such an appointment is highly appropriate since we live in times of increasing spiritual darkness and ought therefore to pray more earnestly. There is much reason for thankfulness to the Lord\, when we have a degree of freedom to continue with our gospel activities and enjoy a measure of blessing. However\, at times we feel as if we have laboured in vain. The Word of God appears largely to fall on deaf ears. With the emboldening of the kingdom of darkness\, we are more than ever conscious of the truth in Ephesians 6\, verse 12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood\, but against principalities\, against powers\, against the rulers of the darkness of this world\, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” \nWhat need\, therefore\, that we more earnestly plead God’s precious promise to build up Zion\, by granting a greater outpouring of His Holy Spirit to bless His Word. Truly\, without this our gospel labour is in vain. May we therefore humble ourselves before God\, confessing our sins\, our shortcomings in His work\, and plead earnestly for His gracious saving power. “Except the Lord build the house\, they labour in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).
