Good News – a Saviour for Sinners!

We are all sinners, everyone of us. We have broken the laws of the true and living God. We have not loved Him with all our hearts. Most of us have lived as if He did not exist. None of us have loved other people as we ought. Instead we have loved ourselves and our sins.

Many think that this does not matter. They think that they will get away with it. But those who continue in sin will not escape judgment. God has seen everything we have done, heard everything we have said, and known everything we have thought. We deserve His wrath and His curse. God is just, so He will surely punish sin for ever, in hell.

But the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, like every true Christian Church, proclaims the gospel – the good news about Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The eternal Son of God came into this sinful world by becoming man. He lived the only sinless life, and died on the cross, suffering the just punishment for sin. All who turn from their sin and put their trust in Him are forgiven and saved. Instead of going to hell because of their sin, they go to heaven because of Christ.

Now that really is good news! “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15).
