Metrical Psalms in Various Languages

Chinese

William Chalmers Burns, the famous missionary to China, translated the Psalms into Chinese in 1867 – note this is a large download (113Mb). It is also available in smaller parts (around 11Mb each):

Ekegusii (Kenya)

The Kenya Mission of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland translated many of the Psalms into a metrical version for singing. The link below contains the most recent version, published in 2013. The work continues, with a view to completing all the Psalms.

Ndebele (Zimbabwe)

The Zimbabwe Mission of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland has translated all the Psalms into a metrical version for singing. The link below contains the most recent publication.

Portuguese

The attachment contains 12 Psalms (in whole and in part).

  • Salmos Metrificados em Português (Metrical Psalms in Portuguese)

Todas as partes dos salmos servem ao metro comum (8.6.8.6.). A única exceção é o Salmo 100 que é de metro longo (8.8.8.8.). Nenhuma tentativa foi feita para que os salmos metrificados rimem. (All the Psalm portions except Psalm 100, which is long metre (8.8.8.8.), fit common metre tunes . No attempt has been made to make the translations rhyme.)
