The following item of news appeared in an American paper, the Buffalo Evening News, of 5th May, 1956: “A new Russian edition of the Bible—the first to be published in the Soviet Union since 1918—has been issued by the Moscow Patriarchate Press, Tass said to-day. . . . It also has a concordance and an index of daily lessons to be read.” If this Bible is freely available to the people of Russia in general, without restriction, the news is good. But this fact is no indication of a change of heart on the part of the Russian rulers in relation to the religion of the Bible. Yet God’s Word will not return unto Him void, when blest to sinners by the Holy Spirit, in Russia or elsewhere.
