I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
The Psalms as Christ’s Words
David is the writer of this psalm, he is writing it under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. All the Psalms of David, all the Psalms of the Bible, spiritual songs, Psalms,hymns and spiritual songs, are those which the Holy Spirit has written, given to the church. To think that man’s compositions could ever match or ever replace or ever somewhere that which is pleased by the Spirit of God. And it is David then saying, the word of God was in my tongue. We have here. And as we have in the New Testament, that is the word of Christ. Let the word of Christ, I will be speaking in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. If you’re looking for the word of Christ, you will have it in the book of Psalms because not only are these the words that he and the spirit of Christ gave to David in the Old Testament for the church, in the volume of the book it written in all these psalms And these psalms, in a wonderful way, are the exercises of his soul. That could be said regarding all the psalms, because he sang them with the integrity and sincerity of Christ. Knowledge, understanding, wisdom. They were his. They were in His mouth. They were sung from His hand. They were His. Oh, does that not make the Psalms very sweet for God’s people? They all pass through the lips of them who never sinned, of them who have failed the children of man, the Lord is there, grace is poured into them. And they are all His songs of love to His Father, to His Church, to His people. Love to God, love to holiness, love to righteousness, hate the wicked, hate the wicked. They are sweet sounds of love. They speak of him and they speak of him.
And this psalm and many of the psalms are prophetic of him. They are prophecies concerning Christ to come. And the spirit of Christ which was in the prophets, that it spoke of him testifying beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. They speak of things which angels desire to look into. The prophets inquired and searched diligently themselves to testify before them how much more should be. They inquired and searched diligently into the same things now that they are fulfilled, now that they are accomplished, which angels desire to look into then and now and continually and forever. All the sweetness of the Psalms will yet be the recovery of the worship of God in the church in the days of the glory of Christ’s kingdom. All but their wisdom will be ruined, forgotten, neglected. Well this psalm is all these things. It is a prophecy, it is the psalm of Christ’s experience and exercise of soul and worship. We use the psalms, it speaks directly of him. It’s the volume of the book, which writes of him. And it is the word of Christ, which is breathed out by the spirit of Christ in the Old Testament to the church and for the church in all ages.
Christ’s Fulfillment and the Church’s Adoption
But it is there we believe in another sense, Christ’s language. in that day it is he who speaks expressly first and foremost it only becomes the language of the church as it were after him and because of him because it’s his first instance and we say that because the new testament tells us expressly that when he came into the world he said the language of his son we’re told that especially about Psalm 45 as well that it is the language of the father to the son unto the son he saith that is the father speaking to the son oh does that not give that’s how lust and glory and beauty speaks the unfolding in the song of boughs the Father’s love to his Son as the mediator of the covenant of grace and all the sanctity of blessing that was in store in that Son recorded all his garments as the veil of sin had cast. But this Psalm is expressly said in Hebrews chapter 10 that when he came into the world he said it is not his son and if he said that when he came into the world he said the other things in the psalm too we can’t infer we must conclude he said this psalm this was his psalm when he came into the world it need not be identified with his express words verbally and in actual words at that moment in time in his earthly life in this world. But the Holy Spirit is employing this language to express what was his design and his purpose Because of his language, his expression, his speech, he came into the world. He took our nature. He united that human nature into his divine person. So it is in that way we are to completely understand and sing this sound. world Christ that he came into the world.
We might try to look at these verses then. We’ve read in the light of that wonderful interpretation of key to unlock its glories, its mysteries, its wonders. The speaker is Christ therefore his people are to follow him and they adopt his language after them in their prayers and in their praises. It’s because he said it first that they can say it at all. It’s there you get the consolation of it. It’s there you find the comfort with it. It’s there that the argument of it prevails in heaven at the throne of grace. It’s because Christ the mediator, is the one through whom all the petitions, all the praises of the Church ascend before the throne. He is the golden altar of incense. He is the sacrifice of their praise. By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. That is the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name. By him, in our prayers, in our places, in the sanctuary of his worship, let it always be by him that has always come behind him, that has always attended to the goings of the high priest in the sanctuary, the steps of our God and our mighty king. Let us plead close to Christ in what he is doing, so that we can stay behind.
Five Points from Psalm 40
Five things in these five verses, firstly, there is the waiting, secondly, the feet, thirdly, the song, fourthly, the trust, fifthly, the testimony.
1. The Waiting (Psalm 40:1)
The waiting. The first one, I waited patiently for the Lord and He applied it to me and heard my command. and stretch it.
And he said I waited patiently for the Lord he came into the world to do his father’s will as we see I delight to do thy will oh my God hear thy laws within my heart though I come though I come that the voice of the book is the witness of me he’s come in obedience He’s coming in accordance with the will of his Father. He’s coming to do the Father’s will. And here is a great part of it. I waited for the Lord my God and patiently did bear. There from the very beginning, I waited. I waited for the time. I waited for the season. In the fullness of time, God sent forth his Son. I waited for the Lord my God. In his human nature he was found in that posture It is the language of his heart and soul in all the days of his infancy and youth and in his growing up among men growing in wisdom and stature This, as it were, characterized the entirety, this is the sum and substance of the whole of it. I waited for the Lord my God and patiently did pray. In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers to God with strong cries. There were no prayers like his. There were no petitions like his. Strong cries. And that’s from that year. I waited patiently. Waiting, I waited. I wrestled in prayer. I watched in prayer. I looked in prayer. for the time and the speech that was appointed by the Father, for my coming into the temple and into the worship of God, for me entering into that public ministry, I waited for the Lord, my God, and patiently did bear, and left to me, he did imply, my voice that cried to hear, and he cried to me, entering upon his public ministry in that manner. Yes, he was praying. in the exercise of prayer. That was the majority, the amount of the transfiguration of the temptation. All these instances we have in the Bible, this is what characterized the whole of his life and character and disposition of heart. This is what they, as it were, marked him as one who was given to this. he often resorted to this with his disciples they thought but it is because he was acquainted with it he was familiar with it he was inclined to it and I waited for the Lord my God and patiently did bear and what humiliation is identified with that what wonders of his grace who was rich and who became poor to this degree that he would wait patiently that he would ask for his daily bread after this manner of prayer our Father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come is that not what he waited for thy kingdom to come the king to come the glorious promises of the everlasting covenant to him to be fulfilled in the fullness of time thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread It was his prayer. That’s why he taught his disciples. Because it was his prayer, first and foremost. Give us this day our daily bread. O forgive us our debts. How can that be his prayer? Because he’s carrying the debt of his people. He’s carrying their burden and their load. And he’s doing all things for their sakes. So that they might be forgiven for Jesus’ sake. for giving his status no temptation or contention he would be delivered from evil that his was the kingdom the power and the glory forever to see his prayer as a model for his disciples to see behind him it’s wonderful it’s glorious he waited there for their peace because he waited patiently therefore they are to be patient because he cried and he was heard because the Lord inclined to him he will therefore incline to them and hear their cry they can come behind him they can plead in his name they can ask for his sake because he was heard and they can make this their language they can make this their petition they could use the very language he applied.
I waited patiently for the Lord. Are you tempted not to wait? Are you tempted to murmur? Are you tempted to complain that the Lord is not here? Has the Lord not answered your prayer? Well, go back to this one. Remember him. Don’t forget. He waited patiently for the Lord. And the Lord inclined unto him and heard his cry. There’s no other reason on earth. There’s no other reason in heaven. there’s no other reason in time or in eternity whereby God would ever hear and answer your prayers or incline to you but because he inclines to him it is because he heard his cry it’s because he is the great intercessor he ever lives to make intercession and therefore he is able to save to the uttermost all and counter God by him that’s the glory of Christ that’s the great high priesthood still his people have become to God through him. He is the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. He that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. Oh, what wonderful answers you got. What wonderful prayers you offered. What wonderful answers you could put through the prayer of John chapter 17. And you can, oh, can you not come in behind him? Can you not make that your petition, the ground of your hope, the ground of your petitions. Do for me according to thy prayers, according to thy purposes. When he came into the world, he said, he entered into the condition in which his people are. He’s touched with the feeling of their infirmities. He was tempted in all points as they are yet without sin. Therefore they are to come bold to the throne of grace that they may obtain mercy and find grace and help in their time of need, knowing that we have a high priest at the right hand of God, touched, touched, yet touched, because he experienced this, he entered into this, I waited patiently for the Lord. He knows what that is, so that you may know that he knows what that is, and you’re waiting in your patience, in your exercise, in your trials, in your afflictions, in your wrestling at the throne of grace for a man. He waited patiently, therefore you are to wait patiently. I waited, therefore you are to wait. In all your afflictions he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. He bears them and carries them all the days of old. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. Do not forget his people who were waiting, the lesser is the man waiting at my gates and the bust of my door I waited for the Lord my God not in a slothful waiting not in a tearless and mental waiting not in indifference in an active zeal earnest firm strong kind and and is able to say Oh, do you not wait on Him in the garden of Gethsemane, where He sweat grey drops of blood? Do you not say that then? I wait impatiently for the Father. And are you not in the garden with Him in your meditations? Do you hear that prayer? You do not be inclined to wrestle at the throat of grace on the stretch of death. Be faithful to our decision. O my Father, Thy will be done. Thy will is my design. Thy delight is mine. Thy way is patient. Lord, O Lord, be inclined unto me and bear my class.
2. The Feet (Psalm 40:2)
Secondly, the shield of people. He brought me up, stuck also out in the holiday season. That is a very great thing. It set my feet before the rock. It established my goings. Now he’s saying that in his prayer to the Father. This one. That’s it. We’re looking forward to that being, that shall be this expectation, that shall be this experience. It’s as though it’s already happened. That’s the language of prophecy. Say something that has already happened, although it’s yet to be. He brought it. It’s so certain. It’s so sure to happen. the thing he’s been asking for and waiting for, to prove for the joy that was set before him in Jordan. And therefore it’s going to happen. It’s so sure and it’s so certain. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit. He said that when he came into the world. So sure it was. So sure that he would be in the horrible pit and the mighty pit. that was in the volume of the book written of him too the day was going to come but the day did come the day came of him and the language of this expressions and the strong cries of Psalm 22, Psalm 69 were this save me O God because of that you so admire me even unto my very soul come into water I downward in deep my roots understanding that is not I am into deep waters now that man’s a-warning on that he is the day in his prayer he brought me he brought me up also out of the hollow out of the mighty He said, that what a horrible thing it was. What my decree, you sinned, child of God, brought upon me. What my decree, he sunk it because there was no standing, there was no standing for you, no standing for sinners, to meet the vengeance of eternal justice. But he stood where there was no standing. His feet sunk in the land. He doubted it be admired and sing. Blood came over him. He descended into the very grave. He descended into hell. And horrible. We were singing the psalm 116. Pages of hell to the whole. I grieve my troubles now. That is the experience of God’s people. that is something that when they know conviction of sin and the terror of God’s justice pursuing them it’s something concerning the pains of man that get hold of them upon the name of God so our revenge is like all the sin that is because he had all the pains of man getting hold of them because he found a book of Psalms he sang to this all of you this this is the assurance this is the certainty he brought me up also out of the hall out of the night and he said I came into the morning he was raised from the dead in the third day according to the scripture that is the rock of salvation thou wilt not leave my soul neither wilt thou suffer as I told you before me still the Lord I said said it is told that he that ever stand at my right hand I shall not move it be over the rock for his feet to stand upon what a glorious rock of salvation to him the father’s promise the father’s covenant engagement not to leave the soul in hell not to suffer the holy it’s holy what you see because of this my heart is glad Joy shall be expressed even by my glory and my flesh in confidence shall rest. Who is the man that shall ascend to the throne of God? Who within his glory place shall have a firm abode whose hands are clean, whose heart is pure and to vanity who has not lifted up his soul or scorned his secret, he from the eternal. Shall we see the blessed hymn of righteousness even in the calling of this salvation? Let’s speak of this. Praise again the dead and the third day, the power of an endless life. His glory shall establish in the feet, the beautiful feet, the feet that never stood, the wounded pierced feet the glorious feet in all the feet of him that preaches the gospel that declares glad tidings how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that accomplishes peace his goings will be satisfied his goings yes his goings which one of all is everlasting his goings are now to be seen at the sanctuary the steps of our God and our mighty King his goings, thy goings they have seen and did they not see it in Galilee this same glorious passion this same passion that was crucified this one who died and suffered this one who entered into the grave this same Jesus With all my hands and my feet, as I myself, handle me and see, I was seeing and saw his goings, his goings were established. So his people’s goings, his people’s feet, when we follow him, we will go before them, He will make the way straightforward. Thou wilt me show the path of life, of joys that is who stole before thy face. Thy right hand art pleasured evermore. That’s the way that his feet go. Glory to heaven, to the right hand, to the majesty of heaven. That’s where he’s going to bring his people. There, they can come behind him. They can come behind him and say the same thing. He brought me out of a horrible pit. He brought me out of a state of sin and misery. He brought me out of a low condition of my ruin and loss, perishing. Hell be served. Prison. He break the bounds. He took me out of the prison. He raised me from the grave of spiritual death. He brought me out of a horrible pit. on the basis and on account of what he did himself in the horrible pit on the basis and on account of the glorious fact that his feet were set upon the rock that his goys were established therefore he took his people out he brings their feet upon the rock he gives them a righteousness he blesses them with his righteousness and his salvation he is the resurrection and the life so that whosoever liveth and believeth in him shall never die. And their glories are established. And they are on the way to glory. All whom the Father has given him, all that they shall come to him, and him that cometh to him, he will in no wise cast out. And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone that seeth and standeth believe in him, and have everlasting life. That’s your voice, he says. He’s on your way to heaven. Because his speech took him to heaven. His glory is going to be established. His feet on the one side of the mountain, therefore your feet will stand in the gates of that Jerusalem too, on that side. That’s where they’re all going. They’re all on their way to that place. He went and He goes.
3. The Song (Psalm 40:3)
Apparently there is here a song, and He hath put a new song in my mouth. He hath put a new song in my mouth. Even praise unto our God, and ye shall see it and feel it, and ye shall trust in the Lord. This is Christ’s song indeed. That is in his realm a new song. A new song because it’s Christ’s. Because it’s Christ’s first, there will never be a new song to you. And the sounds of David become a new song when you find Christ in them. When you find the glorious excellence and beauty of Christ’s love in them. Because they were his songs. Because they became his songs. And because he is the chief musician. And because he leads the praises of his church. I will praise thy name in the great congregation. Is that not what he says in Psalm 22? I will declare thy name unto my brethren. In the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. I will sing praises unto thee in the church. that’s the consequence, the result, the fruit the outcome of all his sufferings when he may tell all his bones when they look and stare upon him and they park his garments among them oh is this not what’s filling his heart with joy the joy that is set before him by which he endures the cross he’s fighting the shame that this shall be accomplished yet I will declare thy name unto my brethren and in the midst of the church I will sing praise unto thee and he will put a new song in my mouth so he is indeed singing that new song my praise shall be of thee in the great congregation I will pay my vows before them that be here all the ends of the world shall remember us and turn unto the Lord and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before him. He’s going to lead the answer. He’s going to lead the praises of his church in glory. He’s going to be himself the praise of angels and spirits of justice in the country. He’s going to be the lamb in the midst of the cold. He’s going to be giving them reasons to praise. he’s going to be conducting that music in heaven which shall ever be to the praise and the glory and the honor of the king if you can’t lift up your head somehow the doors that last for a day lift it up so the king of glory enters in that’s a new song a new occasion a new song of the church in the old testament sending the praise to the king of glory Put that new song in his mouth, even the days of the hour of the Lord, and many shall see it. The multitude of the Gentiles shall come to see it. Oh, that’s another reason to sing the song of the Lord. The Gentiles shall come to thy light, kings to the brightness of thy license. So the glory of this King shall be published in all the earth, and the meek shall eat and shall be filled. also pray shall give unto the Lord that do him seek, your heart shall ever live. That’s his song. He’s singing the song of the gatherings of his churches, of his people, of all ages yet to come. It’s a new song to him because it’s the new testament, it’s the new dispensation of the everlasting covenant of grace unfolding in his mind, in his desires, in his petitions. he has this purpose for coming into the world that the whole world will be filled with his glory and so he sings that song with that confidence that certainty Lord bless and pity us shine on us with thy face that the earth thy way and nations all may know thy saving grace let people praise thee Lord let people all be praised all of the nations be glad in songs their voices raised because now justly people judge on earth rule nations all the people praise the Lord and praise the Lord the latest song a new song it wasn’t sung in the nations before it wasn’t sung in North America two thousand years ago in another song in the songs of the flesh and the songs of the world the songs of wickedness the praise of our God now we can sing a new song because he sang a new song all the sweet sounds prophetic of Christ’s glorious kingdom are new songs to the church new songs yes, new songs promises and the glory and get away and he was far from projecting forward to heaven and sound. So he leads his people in praise. He leads them in their worship. He is the minister of the sanctuary in the praise as well as in the prayer and the preaching. He declares the name of his father to his family. He leads the praise in the sanctuary. He is the intercessor of it as well as of the Creator. The sacred songs of Zion are Christ’s. They are songs composed by Christ. All the music of them is Christ’s. The instrumental music of the Old Testament temple pointed to Christ, pointed to his spirit of producing hearts, pointed to his beautified song in glory and heaven. By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God and to him that is the people of heaven. thanks to his name it is as well to begin again to offer bullets and cards on an altar of blood to use as a mental use in the holy praise of God and Jesus the two go together you might as well an ironic piece to It’s a state principle behind instrumental music, God’s worship. It’s an intrusion into the office of mediation. Glorious high priesthood purity. The one who sits up before the throne of the Lamb of God. He put a new song in my life. He will play such a powerful, mannish and sweet tune. It’s time to leave the world of worship. It will not be a place of entertainment. It will not be a time for music and dancing. It will not be a time for hedonistic abominations. Master, they did not worship. They should see the Lord. They should trust the Lord. They should trust in His all-fueled citizens. His sons. And the chief position of all their kings.
4. The Trust (Psalm 40:4)
And they shall trust. They shall trust in the Lord. The way then from which he came, the way then from which all his intercessions, all his labors, all his sacrifice, all his offering, all his engagements in the covenant of Christ, all what he’s done for his people is to this end a stage of trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man who maketh the Lord his just, and respecteth not the proud of him, nor such as turneth side to eyes. He was that man. He was that man fresh and full of wisdom. He is the blessed one. He from the eternal shall receive the blessing. blessed. The Lord is well pleased with him. He put his trust. This man did trust the Lord. This man did trust the Lord. He made the Lord his trust in all his prayers, in all his wrestlings, in all his agony, in all his sorrows, in all his sufferings, in all his strong cries and tears. he made the Lord his trust what does it mean he made the Lord his trust he made the Lord his promises in the covenant of grace the covenant he made with the Father the promises that the Father gave him he believed in his holy human soul in the exercise of his holy pure and sinless trust He made the lawless test. The Father’s promises would be fulfilled to him. He had the expectation of the poor. He was poor and needy, yet the Lord, He said, fictitious by me. Thou art my health and my deliverance. Make no tallying. Oh my God. Oh my God. That’s the language of trust. That’s the language of confidence. This man did trust in God. That he would free him by his might. He took delight in him. So he was heard. The covenant of grace was ordered in all things to be ensured. It was all His decision. It was all His design. The Father’s will be done. The Father’s purpose. The Father’s promises. The Father’s engagements. He would pay his clothes and the Father would reward him. He would play his secret on the mountains at midnight in the garden. He would play his secret and his Father would reward him for it. So it would be this, that he would respect not the Father. He would not be turned aside in his purpose. He would not be turned aside in his care. He would not be deflected by the temptations, by the suggestions of the devil. This shall not be unto thee, said Peter. We just think of you as doing Christ’s service. This shall not be up to me. That be far from me Lord For all people Now save us not the things that be of God but those that be of man thou’st man in his self-love in his self-dependence to deflect the very redeeming self the glorious work of him that he can get thee I can say thou art an offender Thou savourest not the things that yield to all, but those that yield to thee. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, that respecteth not the world, but such as turn aside to man. Is that not his posture? Is that not his trust? On the mount of temptation, he was shown all the kingdoms of the earth and the glory of them. forgiven into the hand of the wicked. Whatever that may include, it’s the bar, the temptation. All these things shall be done. I will fall down and worship you. Get me behind this thing. I will worship the Lord, I call. And only shall I serve. the presence of that man that makes the forest we expect is not to be a place of such as turn aside your lives no other way to the cloud no other way to the victory no other way to the glory through the Gethsemane Calvary of God the day of devoutness blesses this Abraham and make it glorious God he will bring out of the horrible with my feet of the cross he established my glory through his promises and wait patiently for God Lord have blessings to be had for my people blesses to be and have blessings for my church and have blessings for my people and have blessings for all eternity today so that they’ll be blessed. Men shall be blessed in him, and blessed all nations shall him call, and blessed be his glorious name to all eternity. The whole earth let his glory fill. Amen. So let it be. Blessed is that man. Blessed is that sinner. Blessed is that wretched, vile prodigal who maketh the Lord his trust, who respecteth not the proud, the world, and the devil, and all temptations, who turn us nigh to lies. Blessed is that sinner who maketh the Lord his trust in whatever he saw, whatever the world says to the contrary. Come in behind the blessed one. Come in behind the one who wrestles with strong cries and tears, who trusts in him to be delivered. And you’ll discover the blessedness of the man who maketh the Lord his trust in all your afflictions and trials and sorrows, In all your subjection to temptation, blessed is the man, the woman, the boy, the girl, who makes the Lord his trust and respects not the proud, nor such as tear aside to lies.
5. The Testimony (Psalm 40:5)
And this shall ever be their testimony then, Master. Many, O Lord, my God, are thy wonderful works. It’s all a work of wonder. It’s a multitude of wonders. It’s wonderful to consider how many there are. Many, O Lord, my God, and thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy gracious thoughts which are to us worth. You see, he’s now including his people with himself. Us worth. And that’s the nature of the covenant of grace. all the blessings of the covenant of grace come through and in and out from Jesus Christ the mediator and you are blessed because he is blessed and you should be blessed he obtains the blessing he from the eternal receives the blessing of righteousness salvation redemption wisdom of righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, so that those who glory can glory in him. Then, O Lord, my God, which I worship in my house, thou is my gracious Lord, which I must be. If they cannot be lightened up in order unto thee, if I would declare and speak of them, they are all that can be known to me. Now, it is firstly this language, and it’s your child of God. It’s firstly this, then it’s yours. That’s the principle. That’s the way in which the key is to be unlocking the mysteries, the wonders, the glories, the sweetness, the constellations, the Eros, the Adon, the Cassius, This is our life. The little church of God is the Savior of Christ. His two arguments and His name is not important. He first and He is the mediator. He is the leader. He is the one to conduct the places. He is the one to guide before His people. He is the forerunner. Which is for us entered into heaven itself to appear in the presence of God. So he said, O Lord, my Lord, are thy wonderful works. It’s God’s work. My gracious Lord. Every single deed, every single action, every single work given him to do by the Father. All the Father has given him to do. To fulfill his purpose. Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and his name shall be wonderful. Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, and of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end. the multitudes of wonders are going to continue they’re going to overflow your cup shall overflow the blessings of salvation are innumerable they’re more than can be numbered how could that be your sins are more than can be numbered the work of the work the work of the work the work of the work what you deserve is everlasting punishment and what you get is everlasting life oh is that not very wonderful is that not renewable unfathomable what a distortion of one this creation is so if I should write a big mail and speak of it They are all a cabinet. That’s why it shall be eternity that shall be made. Praise the Lord. That’s why it shall extend to endless ages. He shall be praised. and Russia to be conducted before the Lord because there’s so many things to praise the Lord. This has come. It’s a new testament. It’s a divine covenant which was shared with the Lord. The new testament is a covenant with one Lord. It’s a covenant never ended. It comes with many wonderful works, many gracious works, many purposes of worship. These are the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace and solitude, give you an expected end, an endless, an endless stream, portion, a stream of wonder, A pure river of water of life. Clear as crystal proceeding out of the flow of God’s blood. Lamb in the midst of the throne shall feed them. And shall lead them into living fountains of water. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. And this shall be their testimony at the Lord’s table in heaven. And at the Lord’s table in heaven. This shall be what they say. many, O Lord, my God, of thy wonderful works, thou is the devil, thy gracious thoughts, which are the gospel, cannot be left without an order unto me, that I will declare this to thee. I will, I say this, I will declare thy name unto my God. I will declare, I will speak of him. I will tell of all his mighty acts. which wondrous are, O God. I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations, and therefore the people shall praise thee forever and ever. I will declare thy name unto thy brethren, and if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than happy now. Through all the millions and countless billions of souls and spirits of just men, I am the throne forever and ever. who sing his praise for our amazing nation. We will always be the same as I should speak of and tell. We are all the same. And you are my God, my wonderful house.
Conclusion and Application
Oh, what slow hearts we have. What dumb tongues we have. We cannot sing his praise without meaning. We have come to our conclusion in question, the wheelies. They shall be in the midst of the throne forever, singing His praises with this test. Well, the Lord’s people are called to wait patiently. They are called to walk with their feet in the way established by them. They are called to sing the new song of their worship. They are called to bear witness to the wonderful works of His life. That’s what Archimedean season is designed to do. Christ is to lead them in it all. He is to have all the glory of it. He is to be the leader, the guide, the mediator, the chief position in their places, as of their prayer. There are a number of new reasons for this.
Are you here today and you do not know how to praise God? Because you are in the place. You are in the mighty place. Your feet are still sinking in the mire of sin, this world is in its eternality. brutish, sinful subtleties your instinctual harm what you need then is the Lord to take you out to look to Jesus to cry to him to wait patiently yes, but to cry Lord from the depths to thee I cry my voice Lord do thou hear you must cry so that you can learn this psalm and know this language and join the people of God in their singing of it. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and he set my feet upon a rock. He established my goings, and he put a new song in my mouth, and the worship of God becomes lovely, becomes sweet and precious. The psalmist becomes a delight, not a weariness. Communion’s stations become desirable. They long to go up to the house of God because they’ve got something to say. They’ve got something to do. They’ve got something to sing. They cannot hold them back from singing it. They long to be in the house of God to worship Him, to praise Him, to lift up His name, to bear witness to this, to the message of this, to the message of this man who made up the Lord’s trust. You don’t want to listen to the world, the proud, sinful, lying world, the deceitful world. It proposes other contrivances, distractions to keep you from coming to the worship of the Lord. Get thee behind me, Satan. Thou art an offense to me. The Lord rebuked thee. This is the brand plucked from the fire. Blessed be his name that there are those who can say it. Many, O Lord, my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy gracious thoughts which are to us heard. Thou shouldst cannot be reckoned of in order to be and I should be glad to speak of them. They are all that can be done.
