Appeal on behalf of the Glasgow Congregation.
Application has been made repeatedly to St. Jude’s Deacons’ Court to sell or lease the vacant piece of ground adjoining the Church. The Court felt that if the ground were disposed of in this way it might mean the disturbance of the Church services, and the engagement of unnecessary work on the Lord’s Day.
As the present Manse is old property, and costs much to keep it in good repair it was decided to build a Manse on this ground at the approximate cost of £7,500. While the Congregation will do its utmost to meet this heavy expense yet it is felt that outside help is needed. They therefore appeal to friends who were connected with St. Jude’s in the past, and to all lovers of the cause at home and abroad to give what help they can.
All contributions, which will be thankfully acknowledged, should be sent to the Honorary Treasurer, Mr. Donald Macphail, 4 Roxburgh St., Glasgow, W.2, and Rev. D. J. Matheson, 5 Park Quadrant, Glasgow.

A Tract on Psalms in Worship of God.
“The Singing of Psalms in the Worship of God” by Rev. R. J. George, D.D., Allegheny, Ps., U.S.A.
Most of the contents of this interesting and instructive tract were printed in a 1947 issue of “The Young People’s Magazine,” and have now been reprinted in tract form by some of our Gisborne congregation.
It shows the profound value of the Psalms and how “they are in an eminent sense the word of Christ.” The many portions of the Psalms which refer to the soul exercises of the Lord Jesus are compared with the Gospel quotations.
A great many people in evangelical circles who are not acquainted with the Psalms, do not realise to what extent the Psalms speak of Christ. The tract also points out how errors were brought into the churches by uninspired hymns and it is suitable for wide circulation.
