Miss Katie MacAulay returned to Zimbabwe at the beginning of September to resume her teaching duties at John Tallach Secondary school at Ingwenya. Miss Jean Nicolson, Edinburgh, who spent many years working at Ingwenya recently visited the Mission and we have no doubt would have been warmly welcomed by the people there.
In a letter received from Miss Nicolson from Zimbabwe since the above was written, she refers to Mr and Mrs Neil Murray’s safe arrival in Zimbabwe. Mr Murray is at present working in the Mbuma area. He hopes to obtain a Permit to enable him to do general missionary work. The teachers at Ingwenya are preparing entrance tests for John Tallach Secondary School. Last year there were 1000 applicants from different areas of the country. A Sabbath School began by Miss Graham for local Primary School children attracted 90 children on the first occasion. Rev. P. Mzamo and Mr William Mpofu, elder, returned to Zimbabwe after visiting Kenya and Malawi where they had a heavy programme of engagements. We trust that a blessing will follow their visit.
Church Deputy
Rev. John MacLeod, Stornoway, is due (D.V.) to leave early in October as Church Deputy overseas and also to the Mission in Africa. He expects to spend one Sabbath in Vancouver before proceeding to New Zealand and Australia. He expects to return (D.V.) by Africa and hopes to visit Kenya, Malawi and Zimbabwe before returning home at the end of the year. We are sure that the prayers of the Lord’s people will follow Mr MacLeod on the journey which he hopes to undertake.
Eastern Europe
Rev. D. A. Ross expects to pay a visit to Russia in October. He hopes that his brother Rev N. Ross will be able to accompany him on this occasion. It is desirable that contact may be established with pastors sympathetic to the Reformed outlook. So far this has not been possible. Bibles, Reformed Literature and medicines will be taken to contacts already established. The prayers of the Lord’s people are requested that the deputies may be guided to those who would profit from this attempt to place Bibles and sound religious literature in the hands of those so long denied contact with the West.
