Church Notes

The New Year

As another year opens, we would take this opportunity to wish our readers the blessing of the Lord for time and eternity. How swiftly do the years of our life pass away! They are gone before we are aware of it. What need there is to be ready when the midnight call comes, lest we should be found as the foolish virgins with no oil in our lamps. How many have gone to the eternal world during the past year, many of them to an undone eternity, others to the Father’s house of many mansions. May the new year prove one of blessing to the Church of God in our own land and throughout the whole world. May many be brought from darkness to light and many raised up and sent forth into the harvest to preach the glorious gospel of the blessed God.

Kenya Mission

Mr and Mrs MacDonald and their infant daughter left for Kenya early in December. There is reason to acknowledge the Lord’s goodness in restoring Dr Christine MacDonald to a measure of health so that she felt able to resume her work at Sengera. As the hospital has been finally approved by the Kenyan medical authorities, the way is now open for the work to proceed. Mr Ian MacLean, builder, Daviot, has gone to Sengera for eight weeks to supervise building work there. Rev. John Goldby is due to return to this country in March. We pray that one of the Lord’s servants may be directed to labour premanently in that part of the Lord’s vineyard.

Church Deputy to Africa

Rev. D. A. Ross, Laide, accompanied by his wife, expects to leave on 11th January for a six week visit to Africa. Mr Ross hopes to visit Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya. We trust that they may be preserved from all danger during their travels and that Mr Ross’ visit may prove a blessing to the Mission in Africa.
