Our Government seems to be determined to press on with a policy towards Northern Ireland which is detrimental to the interests of our Protestant brethren there. Romanist-Jesuit pressure is being exerted both in the Republic and in the United States and our Government seem to be unable or unwilling to resist. The press reports that one Roman Catholic priest in the United States who was caught with “part of the loot from a £4.5m armoured-car robbery” was sent to prison for over four years notwithstanding appeals for mercy by 100 clerics and friends. It is thought that more than half the money had already found its way into the hands of the IRA. The goal is that of a united Ireland and the break-up of the United Kingdom but our politicians are acting as if their ability to see or hear was seriously impaired. The majority view seems to be ignored. Our hope and prayer is that the Lord will yet overturn the schemes and counsels of men however well-laid in their own estimation.
