Meeting of Synod
The Synod of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland meets in the Church, Inverness, on Tuesday, the 23rd of May, 1961 (D.V.). Rev. Alexander Murray, M.A., Applecross, the retiring Moderator, will conduct Public Worship at 6.30 p.m.—Robert R. Sinclair, Clerk of Synod.
Induction at Raasay
On 14th March the Western Presbytery met in Raasay Church for the purpose of inducting Rev. D. J. Macaskill, M.A., late of Lochcarron, to the pastoral charge of the Raasay Congregation.
The Moderator of Presbytery, Rev. D. A. Maclean, M.A., presided and preached from Acts XX, 28. There was a large congregation present. After Mr Macaskill was inducted he was addressed by the Clerk. Raasay Congregation has, in the past, been honoured by the Lord in that their minister was the only one in the Free Church Assembly of 1893 who tabled his Protest against the notorious Declaratory Act, and became a polished shaft in the hand of the Lord to set up the Free Church of Scotland on its original Constitution. Our sincere desire is that Mr Macaskill’s labours will be greatly blessed and that many souls will be given him for his hire.—John Colquhoun, Presbytery Clerk.
