Grafton Communion
Rev. Wm. MacLean expects (D.V.) to hold Communion services in Grafton congregation, Australia, on 5th Sabbath of August.
Jewish and Foreign Mission Fund
The Synod appointed this collection to be taken up in August, and we, once more, approach our loyal people, soliciting their help for this most deserving cause. From a very small beginning the Mission has grown so much that there are now three main centres, Ingwenya, Zenka and Mbuma, each with an ordained minister. There is also a native student of Divinity who (D.V.) will be ready for license next year. We consider education as a handmaid to religion and there are about 5,000 children who are being taught to read the Word of God, and provision is made for training some of these as teachers. There is also a well-equipped hospital, and the many patients who visit it are brought in touch with the Gospel. All this involves expense and, though our friends in Holland help nobly, yet the Mission Funds, as a whole, show a deficit for the year of over £500. We feel it right to bring this
item and the other needs of the Mission before our people, confident that it will not fall on deaf ears. “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians iii: 23).

Day of Prayer in October
The Synod resolved that a day of Prayer be held by the Congregations of the Church on Tuesday, the 12th or Wednesday, the 13th October (D.V.) for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in view of increasing immorality and the widespread forsaking of the Word of God.—Robert R. Sinclair, Clerk of Synod.
