Church Notes

Meeting of Synod

The Synod of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland will meet (D.V.) at Inverness Church on Tuesday, 19th May 1981 at 6.30 p.m. when the retiring Moderator, Rev. Angus MacKay, Tarbert will conduct public worship.

Church Deputy to Canada

Rev. Donald M. Campbell, Shieldaig, left this country on Monday, 23rd March to supply Chesley as Church Deputy for seven Sabbaths. Mr Campbell arrived safely in Canada the same day.’ We would acknowledge the Lord’s goodness in his safe-keeping and pray that his labours in that part of the Lord’s vineyard may be abundantly blessed.

Staff for Mission Work in Zimbabwe

Since my last notice the Committee have secured the services of three nurses for the Mbuma Hospital in the persons of Miss J. A. Coote, Poolewe, Miss Peta van de Ridder, The Netherlands and Mr Neil Murray, Stornoway and these appointments meet the present requirement for nursing staff.
So far, however, no enquiries have been forthcoming from teachers in the Church and with the need for next session urgent the Committee extends an invitation to retired members of the profession who might feel able to go to Zimbabwe for a two year period.
Alex Murray, Clerk to the Missions’ Committee, FP Manse, Applecross. (Tel: 052-04-207).

Protest against Pope’s visit

Protest forms are still available for anyone wishing to collect signatures. These are available from Rev. J. MacLeod, FP Manse, Stornoway. All protest forms should be returned to Rev. J. MacLeod by 31st August.
