In the North of Scotland we have the strange spectacle of the Presbytery of a professed Christian Church pressing the local Council to erect a crematorium in the town of Inverness. The Inverness Presbytery of the Church of Scotland decided in September to renew their call to the Inverness District Council to make finance available for this project. Wherever the Inverness Presbytery found its warrant for supporting such a proposal, it did not find it in the Bible. All right-thinking people, far less Christian people, cannot but deplore the pagan attitude of many today in
consigning the bodies of their dead to the fire to be burnt to ashes, instead of laying what is mortal of them in the grave, as has been the Christian practice throughout the centuries.
