Thembiso Children’s Home is the Church’s orphanage, catering for approximately 40 children. These children who have had a troubled start to their lives are now found in an environment where they are instructed in the Word of God and have the “godliness which is profitable unto all things” commended to them.
There is a staff complement of 23 including house mothers and management. In 2011 the home was re-organised from a dormitory style set-up to five family units in five houses, and this is working well.
The home is committed to creating and maintaining a caring and protective environment for the children. Its core value is the teaching and propagation of the Word of God. There is a weekly prayer meeting at Thembiso, and the Home Superintendent conducts worship with the family units daily. Workers also start the working day with worship at 7.30 a.m. The children attend Lobengula Church (Bulawayo) on the Lord’s Day.
More information on Thembiso can be found in the annual Synod Reports.
