(The following prose piece, written in the hand writing of the late Rev. James S. Sinclair, has come into our hands. It is not in inverted commas, and there is no note of its origin or author.)
O happy lark, thou dost put me to shame: thou hast begun thy sweet song to thy Creator’s praise earlier than I have mine, and thou canst sing thy sweet song with a sinless tongue.
But why should I be ashamed? I also have (I trust) a new song our God to magnify, and I wish I could sing it with a sinless tongue.
Thou hast only time in which to sing thy sweet song, and the end of thy time shall be the end of the song.
But as for me, at the end of my time, I will begin to sing an endless song with a sinless tongue to an endless eternity.
