It is with sincere regret that we have to announce that, owing to continued ill-health, Mr. R. R. Sinclair has resigned as Congregational Treasurer and Precentor of the London Free Presbyterian Congregation. He has been the treasurer of this Congregation since the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland began services in London in 1907-1908. Since the death of his cousin, the worthy Mr. Donald Sutherland, Mr. Sinclair has also been the Precentor of the Congregation, being gifted with an excellent voice for the purpose. From the beginning to the end, year in, year out, the books of the Kirk-Session and the Deacons’ Court were kept by him with meticulous care and accuracy. It is to be feared that, due to thoughtlessness, our congregational precentors and treasurers and their labours of love, are apt to be taken for granted, much in the same manner as we do not sufficiently value the worth of the water till the well is dry. Nevertheless, congregational treasurers and precentors, who have been associated with particular congregations for years, like Mr. Sinclair, who have given a life-time service to these honourable congregational functions, are conspicuously missed, by their absence, when ill-health and infirmities compel their resignation from their labour of love and deep devotion. Such resignations, after a life-time of unremitting service, over a long period of years, are sad and solemn reminders of the passing of time, the brevity and uncertainty of life, and the Eternity to which we are fast hastening. For the information of our interested people, at home and abroad, Mr. John Campbell, junior, 93 Oaks Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey, is the new Treasurer of the London Congregation.—Rev. JOHN P.
