Relations between Anglican and Presbyterian Churches: A Reply.
This is a 12-page pamphlet drawn up by a Committee appointed by the Synod of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland. It is being issued Free of Charge and is obtainable from Mr. John Grant, 4 Millburn Road, Inverness. The Rev. James MacLeod, Convener of the said Committee, writes in the Preface: “This Pamphlet is not intended to be a complete refutation of all the points in the Report on Church Relations, but rather as a warning to the people of Scotland of some of the dangers contained in it.” There are 5 Sections or Chapters and under the 5th heading, “The Ultimate Goal,” there appears the following statements, inter alia: “It is clear that the goal is to sweep away Presbyterianism to open up the way for ultimate union with the Church of England . . . It is notorious that the majority of her clergy are unfaithful to the 39 Articles. The Bishops take no steps to discipline them even when they say “Mass in their Churches.” Our people should obtain copies and distribute them after having themselves read the pamphlet carefully. The pamphlet is written clearly and concisely, yet deals adequately with basic issues, sufficient to sound a warning note to serious readers.
