It is reported that the first Mormon Temple in Britain will be dedicated in September. It has been built in Lingfield, Surrey. After the so-called dedication no one will be allowed inside except members of the Mormon organisation in good standing. This temple is just another house for the furtherance of Satan’s kingdom in the world and Britain in particular, although the organisation is called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is said that one of their main services on weekdays will be the “sealing” of marriages for eternity. And it is stated that as many Mormons in this country have died without this privilege (whatever it means) their descendants will be able to go to the temple and have the marriage of parents or grandparents sealed by proxy, these having been civil marriages. This evil instrument of Satan has its main headquarters and centre in the great Salt Lake City, in the American Continent. The origins of this sect is a long, intricate and dark story. Its founder was a young man called Joseph Smith, who was born in the town of Sharon, Windsor County, Vermont, U.S.A., in December, 1803. He claimed that when a lad he had several extraordinary visions, accompanied by a very bright and glorious light in the heavens above. He claimed that on one occasion after a pillar of light had rested upon him, he saw two personages standing above him in the air. He wrote: “One of them spake unto me, calling me by name, and said (pointing to the other)—’This is my beloved Son, hear Him.'” It is obvious to us that in this tale, he grounded his false and evil claim to be a special prophet to whom God had revealed Himself and His Son, in the alleged miraculous manner. Although this sect gives their own kind of place to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, Joseph Smith claimed to have received the Book of the Mormons, which was written in a strange language, and which he claimed to have translated, although possessing little or no education. He further declared that he was favoured with a visit from John the Baptist! On the alleged instructions of John the Baptist, he baptised and ordained his companion in deceit, Oliver Cowdery, to the Aaronic priesthood; and Cowdery did the same for him. To us, this is a mixture of deceit, lies and delusion. From such beginnings Joseph Smith began to influence other poor, ignorant sinners in his day. Although it has been stated that Joseph Smith himself regularly denounced adulterers and such like persons, yet he was suspected of holding the “spiritual wife” doctrine; and a Dr. Foster is said to have extracted at pistol point from his wife the confession that Smith endeavoured to convert her to the “spiritual wife” doctrine, and to seduce her. Smith, along with a brother, Hyram Smith, came to his death in 1844 by assassination at the hands of a mob. Another character and deceiver, Brigham Young, was appointed Smith’s successor, and was also charged in his day with holding to a system of polygamy. According to a Mr. Bowes, living at the time of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, in a pamphlet which he wrote, he averred that the social life of the Mormons was an extensive and well organised system of licentiousness. We need not write more on the foundations upon which this sect has been built. These foundations were of Satan and the powers of darkness, in our opinion. The Press reported that another temple of this sect was to be opened in New Zealand in April. There are, indeed, many anti-Christ’s which have made their appearance in our day throughout the world and this is one of them; and many are being deceived.
