And we have noted also that in March eleven Jews on the New York City Council voted in favour of liberalising the bye-laws on opening of shops there on the Lord’s Day, and thus were mainly responsible by a majority of seven in succeeding to undermine the Christian Sabbath. The background to this action is that New York shops have been losing business to New Jersey nearby, where the opening laws on the Lord’s Day are less strict. One of the main features of this Jewish attitude is that while they retain very strictly their Jewish practices in religion among professed Christian people, they are lending their influence to the hurt of the Christian religion, actuated by worldly and covetous ideas.
