The Northern Presbytery of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland after carefully studying the Wolfenden Report are led by a sense of responsibility to our people and particularly by regard for the moral welfare of the youth of our country to draw your attention to the unscriptural and demoralising nature of the Committee’s findings on homosexual vice.
The Committee recommend that homosexual acts between consenting male adults be no longer regarded as criminal offences. This relaxation of the Moral Law is offensive in the Lord’s sight and imperils the moral standards of the nation.
These proposals, if adopted, will promote the spread of unnatural vice by leaving sexual perverts free to proceed with their corrupt practices at will. Those cases, which on clear grounds can be regarded as medical cases, should receive sympathetic and appropriate medical treatment. No easy way of disposing of this social problem, however, at the expense of the Moral Law can be tolerated.
Public anxiety has already been awakened in recent years by the alarming increase in homosexual vice, and the existing law relating to these offences should accordingly be strengthened.
We desire to protest against these dangerous proposals which in effect give legal recognition to unnatural vice, and we urgently appeal to you to use your influence to ensure that the Wolfenden Committee’s proposals on homosexual vice be not given legal effect.

Change of Broadford Communion.
In order that we may have the use of the new church, it has been decided to change the date of the Broadford Communion from the third Sabbath of May until the fourth Sabbath of June for this year only. The new church will be opened for public worship on Wednesday, 18th June, 1958, when the Rev. James MacLeod, Greenock, is expected to preach. The service will be at 7 p.m. (D.V.).
