New Church Hall in Portree: An Appeal.
For some time the Portree congregation has been feeling its need for a Church Hall, not only for prayer-meetings, etc., but especially at Communion seasons, when a place is needed for conducting the services in English while the Gaelic services are being held in the Church. Last March the usual place where we held the English services was suddenly and unexpectedly refused. Hurried and inconvenient arrangements had to be made to accommodate the people, and it was felt that such a position should not be allowed to arise again. It was accordingly resolved to go on with the building of a hall at the back of the Church as there is room on the feu. The men of the congregation kindly came forward to offer their services free, for which we are deeply indebted to them, but such is the present cost of materials that we estimate the building to cost in the region of £1,000. We are, however, proceeding with such a necessary building right away and make this appeal to friends throughout the Church to assist us as the Lord may give them a mind.

Theological Classes.
The classes in Systematic Theology and Apologetics open in Portree on Wednesday, 1st October (D.V.). The Lord’s people among us are asked to remember both Tutor and students at a Throne of Grace so that they may be strengthened from above for their duties.—D.M.
