The time has come round again when we issue our annual Appeal to our loyal people for contributions to this Fund. We rejoice in the fact that throughout the church there is an increasing appreciation of the work done in the Mission Field in Southern Rhodesia, yet the work cannot be continued without a heavy outlay. Our accommodation for pupils at Zenka and Ingwenya is limited, so that about a hundred pupils who are likely to pass Standard 3 will have to go elsewhere for further education, and possibly not a few of them will go to the Roman Catholic Schools, which would be a great calamity. We have to mourn the great loss of our esteemed Missionary, Rev. James S. Fraser, M.A., on the eve of his coming home on furlough with his wife and family, but would humbly seek to acknowledge the goodness of the Lord in inclining the heart of another young man to go out with the good seed of the Kingdom, and thus manifesting to us a wonderful interposition of His Providence from which we ought to take courage. These changes, however, add greatly to our expenses, but we feel confident that the friends of the Mission will rise to the occasion, and contribute as liberally as the Lord will lay to their hand. “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew xxv. 40.
