The following paragraph appeared in the May issue of Protestant Action, a Toronto Magazine—
The Roman Church boasts in expensive advertisements addressed to Protestants that “The Catholic Church says, ‘Investigate!'” But in private, the attitude of the priests is quite different, as is indicated by the accompanying facsimile of a letter sent to us by a priest in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Some good Protestant friend ventured to send a copy of our booklet “INVESTIGATE!” to this priest, with a kindly worded note:
“Dear Friend: — Many prayers are going up in your behalf that you may find Christ and step away from man traditions which make the word of God of no avail.—A friend in the Lord.”
In green ink, the irate priest stroked out the inoffensive letter, and wrote on top of it his reply: “Never dare send such stuff to me!”
The facsimile of the said letter appeared in an adjoining column to the aforesaid paragraph.
