The late Rev. Archibald Beaton, Gairloch.
As friends throughout the Church knew, the late Rev. A. Beaton had been unwell for nearly the last two years, but it was only last summer that he had to give up his pulpit duties. During the latter part of 1959 he had been receiving treatment in Glasgow, and returned to Gairloch. Recently he went again to Glasgow, but died in hospital there on Wednesday, the 6th of January, 1960. This news was heard with much sorrow by all who knew him. He was a much loved and respected minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who also took a prominent part in the business of the Courts of the Church. We understand he was 59 years of age. He leaves a widow and young family to whom we extend deep sympathy and commend them to the tender care of the God of all grace. An obituary will no doubt appear later.
The late Rev. James A. Tallach, Stornoway.
Within a week after the death of the late Rev. A. Beaton, we were to hear of the passing away to his eternal rest of the late Rev. James A. Tallach. This came as a surprise and caused great grief to many Church friends. Mr. Tallach had been in hospital in Stornoway for about a month with heart trouble and expected to be removed to his home as there appeared to be an improvement in his condition. But on the evening of Monday, the 11th of January, 1960, he took an unexpected turn for the worse and died early Tuesday morning, the 12th of January. He was an able minister of the New Testament, and will also be greatly missed in the Courts of the Church. He was 64 years of age, and leaves a widow and a family of five sons. Our sincere sympathy goes out to them in their sorrow. May they be graciously dealt with and comforted by the Most High. In due course an obituary will appear.
