Church Day of Humiliation and Prayer.
Ministers and Missionaries in charge of congregations at home, and our congregations abroad should take a note of the following Synod Motion passed at its meeting in May:—”That a day of Humiliation and Prayer be observed throughout the Church on the 12th or 13th October, 1960, because of the low state of religion and morals in our nation and generation.”—Robert R. Message to Princess Margaret.
The Synod in May approved the following message to be sent to Princess Margaret:—
Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret.
May it please Your Highness.
The Synod of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland convened at Edinburgh on Thursday, the 19th day of May, 1960, deem it proper and dutiful on behalf of our people to send Your Royal Highness and Anthony Armstrong-Jones, Esq., our warmest felicitations on the occasion of your marriage.
As we are loyally attached to the Royal Family, we wish you both every personal happiness in your married life and trust you will both earnestly seek the blessing of God, who instituted the honourable estate of marriage, and in whom salvation is to be found through His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. To this end we would respectfully suggest that you should have family worship in your home so that it would be sanctified with the Word of God and prayer.
That the Lord Jesus Christ may bless you both with all spiritual blessings and keep and preserve you both in all your ways is our earnest prayer. “For them that honour Me, I will honour and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” (Sam. II. 30).
