Church Day of Prayer
Will ministers please take note of the following Synod motion: “That a day of prayer and humiliation be held on Wednesday, 16th October, 1968, or Thursday, the 17th October, in view of increased incidence of violence, and the passing of demoralising legislation in Parliament, and the low state of religion in the Nation.” — Robert R. Deputy for Canada and the U.S.A.
The Rev. D. B. Macleod, M.A., London, has agreed to go as the Church’s Deputy to Canada and the U.S.A. and left for these parts at the beginning of June. Mr Macleod will be away for at least five months and will be most of that time in Canada. As we have a Congregation and Church in Winnipeg, Mr Macleod will be making it his headquarters. His address will in due course appear in the Free Presbyterian Magazine so that friends, in places where the Church has no place of worship, and who would like Mr Macleod to give them services may be able to contact him.
The Committee is grateful to Mr Macleod for undertaking this urgent mission and to his Presbytery for granting him leave of absence from his Congregation.
On behalf of the Deputy, we ask for the prayers of the whole Church that his services may be blessed to our kith and kin in Canada and the U.S.A., where his late father and grandfather served the Church on several occasions as Deputies.
We wish our friend the Lord’s favour and desire to commit him and his family, whom he leaves behind, to the care of Him, Who says: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye”.
