CHURCH NOTES

Synod Standing Committee Reports

Conveners of Church Committees and others who are responsible for writing Reports to be submitted to Synod (D.V.), please undertake to have Reports in the hands of the Clerk of Synod not later than the beginning of April. It will avoid extra work if Reports are thoroughly edited by those who write them before sending them in. As is known, these Reports have to be printed and thereafter forwarded to all members of Synod at least ten days before the Synod on 20th May 1969. — Robert R. Sinclair, Clerk of Synod.

Southern Presbytery — Appeal from Auckland Congregation

The Auckland Congregation, which has only recently been formed and is relatively small, has had to shoulder very heavy financial responsibilities. Now, with the settlement of a minister among them, a manse had to be purchased and this added considerably to their financial commitments. These facts are brought to the notice of friends throughout the Church, who would desire the prosperity of Christ’s Cause in this distant land in order that they will know that monetary contributions to the Auckland Manse Fund will be most gratefully received. “Inasmuch as ye done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me”. (Matthew 25:40).

Donations may be sent to Mr E. A. Christensen, 9 Kingswood Road, Papatoetoe, Auckland. The Southern Presbytery approved this Appeal at their meeting in Glasgow on February 18th 1969.

With respect to this Appeal on behalf of the Auckland Manse, the Presbytery understand that houses are much more expensive in New Zealand than in Scotland. To purchase an ordinary four-bedroomed house in New Zealand, for example, would cost in the region of £11,000. — Malcolm Macsween, Clerk of Southern Presbytery.

New Publication

Enclosed in this issue of the magazine you will find order form, etc., for the Church’s latest publication, LADY COLOUHOUN by James Hamilton. In procuring a copy of this work it is best to hand the completed form to your local bookseller who will obtain it for you. In areas where no bookseller is at hand you should give the completed form with remittance to your Congregational Treasurer, who should send the whole order for the congregation to the Publications Treasurer, 10 Beaufort Road, Inverness. If you wish to order by post then order form and remittance should be posted to the Bookroom, Glasgow. — Alexander Murray, Convener, Publications Committee.
