Alexander MacAskill

The subject of this booklet was born at Glen Brittle in the Island of Skye, in the year 1873. He was one of a family of ten. He was a gamekeeper for a good part of his days, and a man possessed of no ordinary gifts. He was first of all brought to a deep and prolonged exercise of heart regarding his salvation by a letter written to him by his younger brother, John, who told Alexander: “I have a Saviour for my soul . . . and I who was an heir of hell, am now an heir of heaven.” Later on, he received the light of the gospel returning home in the darkness on the public highway. We understand that many friends in the Free Presbyterian Church deeply respected Alex. MacAskill, as a man of God and an able witness for Christ in Skye. There is quite a lot recorded in this booklet of what was said at Question Meetings and there are Gaelic quotations interspersed with English. There is a letter also included from the late Rev. Dr Donald Munro to Alex. MacAskill on the origin of Fellowship Meetings. This worthy man died at the age of 92 years about one hour after praying at family worship. The booklet is very well printed, with thick glossy paper covers. To the reader it gives an edifying view and spiritual impression of a Christian man of a past generation. We recommend its purchase.
