This consists of six Papers read at the Puritan and Reformed Studies Conference, 1968. There are two interesting Papers dealing with Arminianism, one by Rev. John R. de Witt, B.A., and the other by Rev. J. I. Packer, D.Phil., which reveal that Arminianism is not just a simple heresy but an intricate system which is anti-Scriptural. A tract of 27 pages on the Establishment Principle, which concerned the Disruption fathers so deeply, is a useful guide into this subject. The subject in other words is, The Principle of the National Recognition of Religion. The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland holds to this Principle as Scriptural and fundamental relative to the Church of Christ. The other item sent us recently is a sermon by Rev. This is a booklet on the wife of the great Reformer, Martin Luther, comprising 64 pages, with excellent paper and type, with stiff glossy paper covers. The Church friend who has undertaken the useful task of issuing this most informative and interesting narrative, gleaned and abbreviated it faithfully from an old book originally written in German, but later translated into English. The story begins with Katherina’s youth and life as a nun in Germany prior to the Reformation in its full manifestation. Her marriage to Luther is related and some of the trials they both met with especially from enemies of the truth. After Luther’s death, we are told how friends cared for her and her children, and how she wrestled with God to provide for her. This booklet will make an excellent gift to the young, and certainly others also.
