In Romans, chapter 16, we read of godly women, not a few, whose names the Holy Spirit left on record. Brief, inspired comments on their lives take the form of — “beloved in the Lord”, “our helper in Christ”, “who bestowed much labour on us”; “chosen in the Lord”. Such could be applied to the following godly women, whose record is on high, and, who in their lives, were a great support to the North Harris Congregation:
Mrs Catherine MacAskill, Kyles-Scalpay;
Mrs Annie Macleod, Meavag;
Mrs Maclellan, Collam;
Mrs Jessie Macleod, Tarbert;
Mrs Catherine Macdonald, Drinishadder;
Mrs Robina Macaskill, Tarbert;
Miss Kate Macleod, Urgha;
Mrs Margaret F. Macaskill, Carrigreich;
Miss Dolina MacInnes, Kyles-Scalpay;
Mrs Catherine M. MacKay, my late wife.
Characteristic of all these women was their love to one another in the Lord. The godly here feel deeply their departure. They are now “with Christ, which is far better”.
