By the time you read this we hope that the new members of staff who were due to join us two weeks ago will have got the necessary visas for entry into this country, which at present are being delayed. We need another Graduate teacher by the end of this year, so as to allow those teachers who are due leave to get home.
The new church at Zenka is now near completion. We hope that a pastor will be provided for that large area which has not so many religious denominational bodies as the area around Ingwenya.
There is still no word of encouragement in obtaining a church site in Bulawayo. We should like you to pray that the responsible bodies would grant this, and that a suitable minister for the work there would be provided. “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
There was a very pleasant time of Communion services held at the end of July at Somankantana, part of the area under Rev. Mzamo which is very isolated. There is an annual Communion held there. There were good congregations packed into the small mud-brick classroom where the services were held, with quite a number of young men present. Three new women members were accepted. Services are held regularly there and in the surrounding districts by two or three preachers who belong to that area.
We would desire you to pray to the Lord that He would provide African teachers who are Christians for our Secondary School at Ingwenya. In 1974 we expect to have six African teachers on the staff, so their interest in keeping up a definite Christian standard is vital. We are thankful to have James Mpofu, a son of the late Alexander Mpofu, who is a fine Christian and an excellent influence among the staff.
