The above book, which consists of short accounts of the lives of George Muller, Isobel Kuhn, Billy Bray, David Brainard and Robert Annan, was written by our minister in Kinlochbervie and Scourie. Mr Tallach has done his work very well in an area of writing which is far from easy — that of producing books for young people. In the preface he makes it clear that it is the young he has primarily in mind. He hopes however, that older readers, too, may find the book profitable. The book is very readable and should prove a useful introduction for young people to the lives recorded.
Where exception is likely to be taken is in the author’s choice of lives to record, and particularly that of Isobel Kuhn. It is hard to understand how Mr Tallach passed by so many notable saintly Christian women in deciding to use Isobel Kuhn as the sole woman representative of those whom God made great. This appears to us an inexcusable error of judgment.
One other criticism. Assuming that the author relied heavily on secondary sources, some acknowledgment of help received would not have been inappropriate. Such a list might also have encouraged readers to go on to larger biographies later.
As with other Banner of Truth Trust titles the volume is attractively produced. D.B.M.

This booklet deals with fairly widespread, though erroneous views of many who profess to be evangelical. Dispensationalism is held by some Pre-millennialists and the whole system, as set forth in the Schofield Bible, is intricate. Therefore a handbook of 26 pages outlining the most important aspects of the system is very much appreciated. What makes the booklet so useful, especially for reference, is the way each aspect is given a clear heading, e.g. “Dispensationalism and the Rapture,” or “Dispensationalism and the Church.” Those who have had to confront the dispensationalist will no doubt find the information dealing with the subject of the first and second resurrection of Revelation 20 helpful.
The booklet is compiled from quotations by various writers on the subject, particularly Loraine Boettner. Though the booklet is compiled in this way, the quotations are noted for their relevance to the subject in hand. It gives useful information and is commended as a brief guide and useful reference on this subject.
