The above fund, which is now closed, was opened in 1969 with an appeal for financial help to aid the Cause of Christ in Aberdeen. Prayerful and practical support enabled the Congregation to move into their first permanent place of worship at 50 Summerfield Terrace, later that year with the debt substantially cleared.
In 1971 the Congregation moved to larger premises in John Street; then in May 1975 at a cost of £12,000 the Skene Street Church was purchased. This building is structurally sound and more suitable. In addition a manse was bought in 1972 for more than £9,000. Now, in the good providence of God, these large debts are completely cleared.
The Deacon’s Court, on behalf of the Congregation, would acknowledge with thankfulness to the Most High, the help many individuals and congregations at home and abroad who so generously contributed to this Fund. At the same time we crave the prayers of the Lord’s people for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on this growing city of 220,000 souls, and that the witness of this congregation, small at present, would bear much fruit to the Glory of God. “Ye that make mention of the Lord keep not silence, and give Him no rest, till he establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Isaiah 62:6, 7.
