Synod Clerk’s Resignation
At the recent meeting of Synod, Rev. R. R. Sinclair, Wick, who had held the appointment of Synod Clerk for the long period of 42 years, tendered his resignation which was accepted with regret by the Synod. Rev. D. MacLean, Glasgow, was appointed as the new Synod Clerk while Rev. A. E. W. MacDonald, Gairloch, was appointed as an additional Assistant Clerk. Mr J. P. H. MacKay, Edinburgh, continues as the Church’s Legal Adviser and as Assistant Clerk.
Mr Sinclair who lays down his work as Synod Clerk has given sterling service to the Church in this capacity and his presence at the Clerk’s table in the Synod will be greatly missed. In times of prosperity and adversity he carried out his duties with dignity, faithfulness and courtesy, leaving an example which succeeding Synod Clerks will find difficult to follow. It is our prayerful hope that Mr Sinclair may be spared long to the Church and that he will have opportunity to serve His Lord and Master still further in the ministry of the Gospel and in the Courts of the Church.
We would wish for the new Clerks the Lord’s blessing and guidance in the work which has been laid upon them, and we would ask the people of the Church to remember them at a Throne of grace.
