An advertisement which appeared in the “Daily Telegraph” in November was entitled, “How to be a whiz at being anti-catholic.” It was inserted, as one might well surmise, by the Roman Catholic Enquiry Centre and offered to put anti-Catholics up-to-date on Roman Catholic teaching. Having this information “straight from the horse’s mouth,” as they said, the readers would have all the ammunition they needed “to be a whiz at being an anti-Catholic.”
Having read the advertisement, one could readily say “You can trust the Romanists to be Romanists.” Here subtlety and deviousness are linked with barefaced effrontery as the Romanists try to ensnare the unwary. How true this is to the spirit of Romanism — a religion that is founded on deceit. The lie inherent in the term ‘anti-Catholic’, too, is fully consistent with the spirit of Roman Catholicism. We may have opportunity in the future (D.V.) to refer to the subtlety of the propaganda put out by this organisation.
