On Friday, 10th February, Grampian Television contacted me over a report they had received concerning the legacy left the Church by the late R. W. Forsyth. As the report was inaccurate, I took the opportunity of correcting it and also extracted a promise that there would be no Sabbath broadcasts about the matter. This was agreed. The following day, a journalist contacted me on the same subject and also promised that no report would be given to ‘Sunday’ newspapers. I was, therefore, both aggrieved and astonished to learn that a short report had appeared in the Sunday Mail contrary to the promise given. A statement at the foot of the report to the effect that “The Free Presbyterian Church are against TV, radio and the reading of newspapers on Sunday” does not excuse the breach of promise.
