The murder of Lord Mountbatten while on holiday in Southern Ireland is a grim reminder of what the provisional I.R.A. are prepared to do in order to achieve their aim of a united Ireland. As their aim cannot be achieved by peaceful means it must be obtained by fire and sword. Schooled as they have been in Southern Irish and Roman Catholic fanatical hatred of Britain, these men of violence will continue on their present course till either God will in mercy open their eyes to see the diabolical nature of their conduct or until they go to everlasting perdition.
The tragic loss of so many lives in Ireland, and recently that of 18 soldiers, is to be deplored, yet it is the cost that has to be paid in that land in maintaining Protestant freedom for the people of the North. For all we know the time may not be far off when the Lord will be pleased to pour out His Spirit upon the North and South and break forever the centuries-old hold that Romanism has had on the people of the South. In that day it will be Christ alone who will be exalted in the land and not the Anti-Christ, the Pope of Rome. May that day speedily come.
It is sad to think that Lord Mountbatten, in an interview given not long before he was murdered, jokingly referred to his funeral saying it would be a great affair and invited the interviewer to be present. He said that he was not afraid of death. How little he knew then that in a very short time he would be ushered into the great eternity.
