Dear Sir,
We, the Moderator and Clerk of the Synod of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, wish to express to you, on behalf of the people of our Church, our deep sorrow and sense of shock at the death of 18 of our British soldiers in the course of duty near Warrenpoint, Co. Down, on 27th August.
We wish, through you, to extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and we pray that, in the hour of their grief, they may turn for strength and consolation to the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Who is able to bind up their painful wounds.
We would take the opportunity of assuring you of our prayers for Northern Ireland and the eventual deliverance of the people of that land from the aggression of the terrorists.
On behalf of the Church.
(Sgd.) (Rev.) Donald M. Campbell, Moderator.
(Sgd.) (Rev.) Donald MacLean, Clerk.
