The Deacon’s Court of the Aberdeen congregation would like to draw the attention of people throughout the Church to some developments in the congregation’s financial situation.
There was discussion for some time about the desirability of obtaining more suitable manse accommodation. We are pleased to report that a new manse was purchased in September, and that the former manse was sold in October, the difference between the two being £18,000. Charges on the loan required to make this purchase are obviously considerable. Another matter involves the church hall, the end wall of which has given concern for some time. This wall requires substantial repairs, which are expected to cost around £10,500.
We have received encouraging support from within the congregation. But, especially as the congregation is largely made up of students and young families, we are prayerfully taking this step to make our needy circumstances more generally known. Anyone wishing to help by giving a contribution or an interest-free loan to the Property Fund should contact either the minister or the congregational treasurer, from whom up-to-date information about the state of the fund can also be obtained.
