Day of Humiliation and Prayer
The Synod decided that November 26th 1980 be observed throughout the Church as a Day of Prayer to confess our increasing religious and moral decadence at all levels, and to pray for an outpouring of the Divine Spirit to generate faith and deep repentance among us.
Deputy to Australia and New Zealand
We are happy to report that the Rev. D.B. MacLeod arrived in Sydney after a safe but very tiring journey. He held services for the small group that meet there, and then went on to Auckland on the 19th August. After spending six Sabbaths in New Zealand, including one at Gisborne, he plans to return to Australia and assist at Grafton communion on 5th October. He hopes to devote the last three Sabbaths of his tour to Sydney, before returning home on 31st October. If it be God’s will, we trust that these plans will be fully carried out, and that the Free Presbyterian cause in these distant parts will benefit from Mr MacLeod’s ministry. The prayers of all readers are again asked for the deputy’s health and wellbeing, and the work in which he is engaged. Also for our congregations there, and their ministers.
At the beginning of the academic year we in university cities naturally think in a special way about the student section of our congregations.
