Proposed reprint of early Volumes of the Free Presbyterian Magazine

All who are fortunate enough to possess the early issues of the Free Presbyterian Magazine are well aware of their spiritual and historical value. These volumes breathe the spirit of the Church in the early days of its separate existence when it was so necessary to maintain a stand for the Word of God in its entirety: the worship of God in its purity: and the government and discipline of the church according to the mind of its glorious Head. The articles and sermons are also of a very high spiritual standard while the obituary notices of the godly are a source of enlightenment and encouragement to all who value the life of God in the soul of man.

These volumes are now very scarce and it is no easy task to obtain any of them. A scheme for reprinting volumes covering possibly a period of thirty years has been devised by Dr R. MacCuish and Mr Roy Middleton of our Barnoldswick congregation. The idea is that the printing of these magazines would be paid for by subscription. To make the reprinting as cheap as possible, the scheme would need about 500 subscribers. This would ensure that one volume could be reprinted at 2 or 3 monthly intervals. Each volume would contain the magazines for 2 years and would be neatly bound with hard covers.

The cost for the first 2 year volume would be around £7.50 according to estimates. This would represent very good value at present day prices.

A Questionnaire is being issued with the June Free Presbyterian Magazine and we hope many will take advantage of this splendid opportunity to procure volumes which will make edifying reading not only for this generation but for generations to come.

The Magazine Committee have given their approval to this proposal and the present writer hopes that the response will be of such a nature that we shall soon see an early reprint of these valuable volumes of the Free Presbyterian Magazine.
