Mission News

Miss Marion Graham has resumed her work at Ingwenya as Headmistress of the John Tallach Secondary School. She returned to Zimbabwe in June after she had recovered from her illness. In the kind providence of the Lord she has been restored to health and strength again.

Mr Dick Vermuelen has been engaged for the last number of months in his work of overseeing the Missions in Kenya and Malawi. In August he will complete the six months service which he promised to give and is due to return to New Zealand at that time. It is to be hoped that the Lord may in His providence raise up suitable workers for this part of our Church’s work. A further appeal is included in this issue of the Magazine. A Minister of the Gospel to labour in those countries is most essential. There is there a large field of usefulness for a dedicated servant of Christ to spend and be spent in the Master’s service. The Lord is able to direct the mind of one of His servants to undertake this task in Africa for our Mission there.

A Deputation from Zimbabwe was expected to visit Kenya and Malawi in July. We trust that their visits to both countries will have proved successful in further establishing our witness as a Church there.

Urgent Appeal for Foreign Mission Staff

At Ingwenya, at John Tallach Secondary School, there is an urgent need for teachers having Mathematics or Science at degree level. Persons not having teacher training will be acceptable.

At Sengera in Kisii Province in Kenya there is urgent need for a doctor or nurse to supervise the setting up and running of the Hospital Clinic which has recently been built.

Again we would urge suitably qualified persons to give prayerful consideration to the above appeal. Anyone willing to respond to these needs should contact the Clerk to the Foreign Missions Committee, Rev. Dr. J. R. Tallach, Free Presbyterian Manse, Raasay, Kyle, IV40 8PB.

The Foreign Mission Committee wish it to be known that while it was agreed at the Synod that the provision of further medical and educational facilities in Kenya and Malawi be left in abeyance for the present, yet the Foreign Mission Committee would be happy to hear from suitably qualified persons for the work already established there.
