HISTORY OF PROTESTANTISM by Rev. J. A. Wylie. Two large volumes. £38.95 + p.& p. £2.50. (Overseas p.& p. £8). Mourne Missionary Trust, Church Road, Carginagh, Kilkeel, Co. Down, N. Ireland.
The Mourne Missionary Trust is to be congratulated on re-printing this valuable work on the History of Protestantism by Rev. J. A. Wylie. This work which extends to nearly 2000 pages was first published in 1878 in three volumes. It has been out of print for over half a century. The Mourne Missionary Trust have reprinted it in two large volumes. This history goes back to the time of the Waldenses. It records the contributions of Wycliff and Huss prior to the Reformation before it goes on to take up the history of the Reformation from Luther onwards. The Reformation as it affected other countries on the Continent is fully dealt with, as well as the Reformation in England and Scotland. This work is one which no student of Protestantism should be without. The publishers advise that it should be read by every minister of the Gospel and should be a standard work in every Bible College and Seminary. They send it forth with the prayer that it will have a wide circulation and be used of God to animate those who read it with the heroic spirit of our Protestant forefathers.
We are glad to commend this work to the readers of the Magazine, where they will find an excellent account of the Protestant Reformation in Europe by one who was wholly in sympathy with the Protestant Cause.
