The Conservative Government, under the Premiership of Mr John Major, has obtained a fourth term of office, having obtained a majority of 21 over all other parties contending the election. In the present state of economic decline great responsibility rests on the Government to try to take action to prevent further deterioration and to effect recovery. So many factors are involved that this is no easy task. In this task we would be more hopeful of a successful outcome if our leaders were ready to acknowledge their need of Divine guidance and help. It is our view that the spiritual and moral state of the country is the most alarming aspect of our national life. Only a recovery in this field will make possible a sustained recovery in the economic state of the nation. We need as a nation an abundant outpouring of the Spirit of God in repentance in order that we may be restored once again to the favour of God.
