THE WORKS OF JOHN BUNYAN Vol I, II and III. Banner of Truth Trust. £49.95 for the set.
The Banner of Truth Trust is to be commended for reprinting the 1854 Edition of Bunyan’s Works. This gives readers an opportunity to purchase this attractively produced set of Bunyan’s writings. These writings need no recommendation. His well-known allegorical works “The Pilgrim’s Progress” and “The Holy War”, also his autobiographical work “Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners” have been highly prized throughout the English speaking world and regarded as masterpieces of Christian literature.
In addition to “Grace Abounding” the first volume contains, among other writings, “The Jerusalem Sinner Saved”, “Come and Welcome to Jesus Christ”, “Saved by Grace”, a “Treatise on the Fear of God” and “A Discourse Touching Prayer”. The second volume, among other precious writings, deals with the Saints Knowledge of Christ’s love, the Resurrection of the Dead and Eternal Judgment, the Pharisee and the Publican, a defence of the Doctrine of Justification by Faith in Jesus Christ and a Holy Life, the Beauty of Christianity. The third volume contains his allegorical works. In addition to the two better known works there are among others, The Barren Fig Tree and the Life and Death of Mr Badman.
It would be a token for good in our land if the republication of these volumes would stir up professing Christians throughout the land to return to the solid and edifying reading found in Bunyan and other Puritan writers.
