Governor Bill Clinton was elected in November as President of the U.S.A. in place of President George Bush. He is due to assume office this month. His election took place notwithstanding revelations as to his private life which had been brought to light early in the campaign. The President-elect’s liberal outlook on moral issues gives cause for concern. He has already indicated, according to a Press report, that he will issue an executive order ending the ban which prohibits homosexuals from serving in the armed forces. His outlook on the abortion issue will be one favouring relaxation of the laws governing it. In view of the fact that the U.S.A. is the most powerful nation in the world, the President’s outlook on these and other issues cannot but have its impact on other nations as well. What the outcome will be remains to be seen.
