The Government is in process of drawing up a scheme for the running of a national lottery to finance the arts and sport. The proposals were due to go to the House of Commons before the end of the year. The aim is to make it a national habit across the social spectrum with the emphasis on giving to charity. Much evil has been done in the name of charity and this proposal can only fuel the gambling habit in the country. The action of the Government in promoting this lottery is a further retrograde step in Britain’s moral decline.
