In early October, it is planned, subject to Presbytery permission, to visit Eastern Europe. We are now able in God’s gracious providence to accomplish two visits each year. This is more practical than one visit because
it tends to consolidate the work. We depart for Ukraine, God willing, on the 10th, and return on the 28th.
The Lord and Saviour said, “Behold a sower went forth to sow”, and, “The sower soweth the Word”. We are familiar with the Saviour’s interpretation of this well known parable. Yes, the sowing resulted in no fruit in some cases but, despite disappointment, there was fruitfulness. As we endeavour to sow the Word of God in those regions, new to us as a Church, we must believe, according to the parable, that good will result from our labour. Of course, there will always be those who despise the work of spreading the Word of God, saying that it makes no useful contribution to the betterment of mankind. However, our desire is to do this good work in faith, believing the teaching of the parable of the sower: that some sinners will benefit from the Word of God. Whether spread by the written page or the preaching, there will ever be those who will benefit from time and eternity.
