The search is on for a particle of matter which — it is claimed — once found, will at last explain how the universe originated. Leading the search is Professor Peter Higgs, Professor of Theoretical Physics at Edinburgh University and the proposal is to build a huge machine which will “recreate the incredible heat and conditions of the first million millionth of a second of the beginning of time and The Big Bang that gave birth to the universe.” The folly of nineteen European states spending a total of £1000 million on this research project will be apparent to anyone who believes the Bible to be the Word of God. It is inexpressibly sad that men of such intellectual abilities should be wasting their time and energy looking for what is not there. We can only surmise just how great the advances shall be in such fields of scientific knowledge when learned men shall take as their starting point: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
